Former P.M. Dr. Manmohan Singh discharged from AIIMS two days after he complained of chest pain

Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has been discharged from AIIMS, New Delhi on Tuesday afternoon.  Manmohan Singh was admitted to AIIMS on Sunday evening after he complained of chest pain and uneasiness. The veteran Congress leader has been advised medications for a few days.

Manmohan Singh was admitted to the cardio-thoracic ward of AIIMS on Sunday.  He had developed a fever after his system reacted to a new medication, said the AIIMS on Monday. On Monday evening, Singh was shifted out of the ICU and moved to a private ward of Cardio-Thoracic Sciences Centre (CTVS) unit of the institute.

The 87-year-old senior Congress leader was admitted to the institute at 8.45 pm Sunday. “He was admitted for observation and investigation after he developed a febrile reaction to a new medication,” said a senior doctor from the institute.

Two days after the admission, Manmohan Singh has now been discharged.  According to the doctors, his condition was stable on Monday.

Hospital sources said Manmohan Singh underwent a series of medical tests in the two days of his hospital stay.  The veteran Congress leader is 87 years old.

In 2009, the veteran Congress leader was operated for a redo bypass cardiac surgery by cardiovascular thoracic surgeon and vice-chairman of the Asian Heart Institute, Dr Ramakant Panda.

Taking an important step, the Indian Railways has canceled the tickets booked for all travel trains till June 30.  Railways has said that fares for tickets canceled up to June 30 will be refunded.  Also, all special trains and Shramik trains will continue as before.  The railway gave information in this regard on Thursday morning.  Canceled trains include Mail / Express Rail.


8 migrant labourers died and over 54 suffered injuries after the truck they were travelling in was hit by a speeding bus in Madhya Pradesh's Guna early this morning.  The incident took place hours after a group of migrants were run over by a speeding bus in Uttar Pradesh. Whereas a roadways bus in Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh crushed the workers on foot.  Six workers were killed and four were seriously injured in the accident.  Apart from this, two laborers were killed and 12 injured in a bus and truck collision in Samastipur in Bihar.
