Yogi Prahlad Jani, WHO Claimed to Have Survived for Over 70 Years without Food and Water, No More
Yogi Prahlad Jani alias Chunriwala Mataji died on Tuesday in Gandhinagar district of Gujarat. He was 90 years old. Yogi Jani, who claimed to have survived without food or water for more than 70 years, died in his native village Charada. There were many people who followed him in Gujarat.
In 2003 and 2010, scientists tested claims of survival without food or water. He claimed that he did not need food or water as the goddess kept him.
Jani's body was taken to her ashram-cum-cave near Ambaji temple in Banaskantha district.
The statement issued by his disciples said, 'Mataji was brought to Charada a few days ago after expressing his desire to spend some time at his native place. He breathed his last today. His body will be kept in his ashram for two days so that his devotees can pay tribute to him. He will be ordained at her ashram on Thursday.
Lived under the guise of women:-
Being a devotee of Goddess Amba, he used to wear red saree (chunari) all the time and dress like a woman, hence he was known as Chunriwala Mataji. Jani claimed to live 76 years of his life without food or water. He left his parents' home at a very young age following spiritual experience. His followers claimed that he stopped taking food and water at the age of 14.
Scientists study:-
Jani built a small cave near the Ambaji temple at an early age and later gained popularity as a yogi. In 2010, scientists and doctors from the Defense Institute of Physiology and Allied Sciences (DIPAS) under the Defense Research and Development Organization conducted a 15-day study on Jani to find out how he was living without food or water.
