Most parts of the world are currently suffering from the havoc of the Novel Corona virus.  So far, more than 2,197,100 cases of the disease caused by this virus i.e. COVID-19 have been reported worldwide, whereas more than 147,500 people have lost their lives.  So far, over 557,600 people have also recovered from COVID-19.

Along with understanding plasma therapy, some are also aware of the popular drugs that are on the radar of doctors for the treatment of COVID-19.

Convalescent Plasma Therapy :-


Convalescent plasma therapy has proved effective in treatment for COVID-19 in many places.  Under this therapy, blood plasma taken from a patient recovering from COVID-19 is injected into new patients.  Experts who believe in this therapy believe that the corona virus antibodies made in the cured patient can go into the body of the new patient and neutralize the virus.

Actually it is an old method, which was used many years ago to deal with polio, measles and mumps etc.

However, this therapy has not yet been approved globally for treatment of COVID-19 as trials are going on in many places.

EIDD-2801 :-


This antiviral of Emory University is also being seen with hope in the treatment of COVID-19.  This drug comes in pill form.  However, there is still a strong opinion of experts on how effective this drug is in dealing with corona.

Remdesivir :-


This antiviral drug is made by Gilead Sciences.  This drug was tested against Ebola, in which it almost failed.  However, Dr. Kathleen, who is leading a trial of this drug on COVID-19 patients, told STAT News, "The best news is that many of our patients have been discharged."  Specialists of diseases.  More clinical trials of this drug continue worldwide.

This drug comes in the form of liquid, which is transported through the veins to the patient's body.  In such a situation, the patient will need to go to the hospital or clinic for 10 consecutive days for treatment.

Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) :-


The demand for this anti-malarial drug has increased rapidly in many parts of the world amid the COVID-19 epidemic.  In the last few days, US President Donald Trump has been emphasizing on this drug.  However, clinical trials are still ongoing in the US to confirm how effective this drug is in fighting COVID-19.

India is supplying this medicine to more than 50 countries.  Balwinder Arora, the medical superintendent of Delhi-based Safdarjung Hospital, recently said, "In my opinion, HCQ definitely prevents the virus from entering the cell to a great extent, which is why it is called high risk COVID."  -19 Doctors treating patients have been given. Several anti-inflammatory drugs already on the market, including Actemra and Kevzara, are being tested on patients with COVID-19.

Anti HIV drugs :-

Recently, there was news from Rajasthan in India that the combination of 2 anti-HIV drugs proved to be very effective in the treatment of COVID-19 there.  Similar reports were reported from New York City in the US.  But in many cases such combination has also proved to be ineffective in clinical trials.
