India elected as non-permanent member of UNSC
India was elected a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on Wednesday for the 8th time. India will remain as a temporary member of the Security Council between 2021-22. Prior to this, India has carried out this responsibility in 1950-51, 1967-68, 1972-73, 1977-78, 1984-85, 1991-92 and 2011-12. The presence of the Security Council increases the scope of any country to interfere and dominate the UN system. In such a situation, it is very important for India to reach the Security Council after 8 years.
However, Pakistan is extremely upset by this. Pakistan has said that India's selection of a temporary member of the Security Council in the United Nations is a matter of concern. Pakistan's Foreign Minister Shah Mohammad Qureshi has said that it is not a big deal for India to join the Security Council temporarily. It does not matter. But it is definitely a concern for us.
