Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman released the third tranche of the 20 lakh crore economic package today with a focus on agriculture, fisheries and allied activities. In the previous two parts of the package, FM's focus was on MSMEs, NBFCs, MFIs, migrant workers, street vendors and small farmers. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has declared that the package is aimed at making India self-reliant. He has also hinted at bringing in several reforms to revive the Indian economy hit by the nationwide spread of the contagious coronavirus disease and the prolonged lockdown.

Road accidents continue in Uttar Pradesh. Around 12 migrant laborers were injured on Monday morning after a bus overturned in Hamirpur. There were 31 people inside the bus during the accident. 8 migrant labourers died and over 54 suffered injuries after the truck they were travelling in was hit by a speeding bus in Madhya Pradesh's Guna early this morning. The incident took place hours after a group of migrants were run over by a speeding bus in Uttar Pradesh. Whereas a roadways bus in Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh crushed the workers on foot. Six workers were killed and four were seriously injured in the accident.
